Moving from private-label to in-house

Walmart Creator was launched in 2022 using a private-label platform. Demand was staggering (tens of thousands of creators applied to join), but the experience was lacking.

In 2023, we built a brand-new in-house team (product, engineering, business, and design) to create our own product. And in the first three months, we'd built a drastically improved MLP (minimum lovable product) to test and launch on responsive web to general audiences ahead of the holidays.

The result? Billions of dollars in ecommerce sales for Walmart, and hundreds of millions of dollars in commissions for creators.

Improving the mobile experience

Creators aren't just social creatures, they're mobile too.

After successfully launching our MLP experience on web, we conducted generative research to better understand what creators need and want from a native mobile app.

Then, we designed and concept tested several approaches to creating a better mobile experience.

Navigating continued success

The brand-new team quickly hit its stride and launched a plethora of key initiatives that year.

These initiatives drove significant impact for the business, and resulted in promotion for high-performing team members.

Our work even resulted in some features in high-profile publications.
